The Image of Me
The image of me is defined as a kaleidoscope of mixed fabrics, fashions, personalities and ideas. I hold my image to a high standard because I’ve worked so hard to get it to that point.
Changing that image is like asking me to saw off my own arm. To chop off a piece of myself that I have had for most of my life. The image of me is refined on a molecular level that highlights the best qualities of who I enjoy being along with who I am on the inside.
Asking me to change that is like asking me to remove an eye. Blind to the actions you are wishing to behest me. I value it because it has allowed me to grow into the person I am today. It is my own personal voice that only I can appreciate.
The image of me is not a play thing that can toyed around with. I am not a doll or fool to dress up and parade around. I am not the ART you want to create, rather I am the ART I choose to be despite the constant ridicule for change.
Asking me to modify myself to your standards is like removing my tongue. It is silencing the voice that I have so perfectly molded and created without the assistance of needful hands and glutinous outburst. The image of me is more than a simple cloaking mechanism. It is who I am as a unique and wonderful person who will never bend to the will of another’s opinion.
The image of me is a sacred parchment with hieroglyphs constantly trying to be transcribed by those who are unworthy of that knowledge. Who I am defies the odds and ideas of intrusive thoughts and phrases that attempt to break the dam of my spirit. Conformity is a love language I have never enjoyed the taste of. Rebellion is my sweet song and it blazes with multicolored phoenix fire.
Pushing your opinions on me is like asking me to swallow cyanide in a game of Follow the Leader. I don’t play by those rules, I play by my own. I just allow you to watch.
The image of me will be my own and not the scrapes you call art. The image of me is for…wait for it…ME.
Now if you would be so kind as to take a ticket, find a seat, and enjoy the show. It’s a real head spinner.
